ISSUES

Concealed Carry Permits (CCWs)

I firmly believe in and will defend the Second Amendment. Law-abiding citizens who meet the legal criteria will receive their CCWs in accordance with both state and federal law, without unnecessary delays or bureaucratic roadblocks. Your right to protect yourself and your family should never be compromised.

Veterans

As a veteran myself, I understand the sacrifices that come with service. I will be a strong advocate for veterans, ensuring they have access to the services and benefits they have earned. Within the Sheriff’s Department, I will push for additional resources and promotional points for veteran employees, recognizing their experience, discipline, and leadership.

Homeless Crisis

Homelessness is not a law enforcement issue; it is a political one. I will work with our contract cities on this issue only after ensuring there is real political will and that our deputies are legally protected. Law enforcement will not be used as a scapegoat for failed policies. Policing is the extension of politics. Not its scapegoat.

Opposing the Early Release of Violent Criminals

There is no such thing as “CARE FIRST, JAIL LAST”, that’s Orwellian political newspeak designed to mislead the public. If you are in jail, it’s because you committed a crime, and a judge sent you there. It is not the system’s fault; it is your own responsibility. I will stand against any effort to release violent criminals early and will always put the safety of our communities first.

Illegal Immigration Enforcement

As your next Los Angeles County Sheriff, my top priority will be public safety, enforcing the law and protecting our communities from violent criminals. As an immigrant myself, I know firsthand that legal immigration and illegal immigration are not the same. Shame on those who try to lump us together, it's dishonest and disrespectful to those who follow the legal process.

I will uphold California law, including SB 54 (The California Values Act), while also enforcing federal judicial warrants for serious criminal offenders. My responsibility is to follow the law, not create it. As long as SB 54 remains in effect, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department must comply while ensuring criminals cannot exploit these policies to evade justice.

I am committed to advocating for amendments to SB 54. The 287(g) Program, which SB 54 currently prohibits, allows the Sheriff’s Department to safely transfer dangerous criminals in county jail to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) after they have been arrested on state charges. This prevents these individuals from being released back into our communities, where they could re-offend. When we release these offenders without coordinating with ICE, they often return to victimize the very people we are sworn to protect. I will work relentlessly until Sacramento restores this critical tool for public safety.

Law Enforcement Wellness

Every day, our deputies risk their lives to protect our communities, yet they are overworked, under-supported, and used as political pawns by failed leadership. The toll of long shifts, high stress, and trauma has led to burnout, strained families, and alarming suicide rates, yet nothing changes.

As your Sheriff, I will make deputy wellness a top priority. I will push for better shift scheduling, mental health leave without stigma, and stronger family support programs. I’ll expand access to trauma-trained professionals, establish peer support networks, and ensure leadership prioritizes well-being.

Our deputies protect us, it’s time we protect them. A healthier, stronger department means safer communities for all.
