And now, another tragedy: A deputy dies driving home after working inhumane hours, exhausted and overworked—because there was no one left to relieve him.

This is not an isolated issue. Across Los Angeles County, contract cities are now suing the Board of Supervisors, demanding answers for the lack of patrol coverage and services they are paying for but not receiving. Communities are growing more vulnerable. Deputies are stretched beyond their limits. And residents are asking: Where is the Sheriff?

When Doing Your Job Gets You Prosecuted

In a case that has stunned law enforcement professionals nationwide, an LASD deputy is facing federal sentencing for actions that were both lawful and within department policy.
